8 years - The Clinical Microbiology Laboratory at Mata Chanan Devi Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility offering automated equipment for comprehensive diagnostic support, ensuring early intervention in patient treatment. Accredited by NABL since 2013 as per ISO:15189, the lab is staffed with qualified professionals committed to delivering high-quality testing with a rapid turnaround time, adhering to a patient-centric approach. The department provides diagnostic bacteriology services, including Gram staining, culture and antibiotic sensitivity testing, special stains (ZN, Albert, Modified ZN), and methods like hanging drop for Vibrio motility and India ink for Cryptococcus. Serology services include tests for malarial antigen, widal, typhi dot, ASO/CRP, RA, VDRL, HIV, HBV, HCV, and other markers via rapid cards, enzyme immunoassay, and CMIA. Diagnostic mycology involves KOH mounts, fungal culture, and yeast sensitivity. The molecular lab conducts TRUENAT testing for SARS-COV-2, TB, HBV, HCV, H1N1, and HLA-B27. The Hospital Infection Control section monitors healthcare-associated infections (BSI, UTI, SSI, VAP), ensures hand hygiene compliance, and runs an antimicrobial stewardship program, performing air and water bacteriology, nasal swab testing, biological indicator testing, equipment swabs, disinfectant testing, and sterility tests for IV fluids and surgical drapes/gowns.
